ORGANIC details on the road education contact | support organic sponsors

The USDA's National Organic Program goes into effect on October 21, 2002.

As consumers we will have four new labels:
1. 100% organic
2. 95 to 100% organic
3. at least 70% organic
4. less than 70% organic

Products with less than 70% organic ingredients may list specific organically produced ingredients on the side panel of the package, but may not make any organic claims on the front of the package.

People who sell or label a product "organic" when they know it does not meet USDA standards can be fined up to $10,000 for each violation.
